Heather L. Akins, DO
Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician
Dr. Heather Akins has been providing quality health care in North Texas for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. She also has a special interest in women’s health.
Dr. Akins received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and her master of science in biology from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
In 1998, Dr. Akins obtained her doctor of osteopathic medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. She completed her family practice residency at Baylor Medical Center.
Dr. Akins is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Collin-Fannin County Medical Society.
Adam J. Kaplan, MD
Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician
For more than 20 years, Dr. Adam Kaplan has been providing primary care to adults and children in North Texas.
Dr. Kaplan received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his family medicine residency at Baylor Medical Center.
Dr. Kaplan is the current chief of family medicine at Medical City Plano hospital and is the team doctor for the 2015 & 2016 ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans Professional Hockey Team. The Americans are the "AA" Affiliate of NHL's Minnesota Wild.
Dr. Kaplan has been named a D Magazine Best Doctor and is a People's Choice Award winner.
Dr. Kaplan is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and the Collin-Fannin County Medical Society.
Angelique Ferraris, PA-C
Certified Physician Assistant
Angelique received her bachelor of science in biology from the University of North Texas in Denton in 2006, and her master of science in physician assistant studies from UNT’s Health Science Center in Fort Worth in 2016.
In between obtaining her bachelor and master’s degrees, Angelique received her license from the Texas Board of Nursing, and worked as an urgent care licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in Denton, Texas.
Angelique became certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in 2016. She joined North Texas Family Medicine as a certified physician assistant that same year.
She is a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
